May 5, 2024 marks the return of our annual specialty coffee drink, The Cajeta Latte as Miami celebrates Cinco de Mayo.
In Mexico, Cinco de Mayo is primarily observed in the state of Puebla, where the historic Battle of Puebla took place against French soldiers in 1862.
Cajeta de Celaya is considered a specialty of the city of Celaya in the state of
Guanajuato. We prepare our Cajeta de Celaya in the traditional manner by sweetening goats milk, adding cinnamon sticks and cooking it approx 3 hours to reduce into a thick and delicious caramel sauce, similar to dulce de leche. Our house-made Cajeta de Celaya is rich and creamy, and we blend it in our hot espresso latte and top it with our homemade chili-spiced marshmallow for an amazing caramel and coffee flavored drink.
We continue to evolve the Cajeta Latte each year, and we've made some tweaks to how we make our marshmallows this year. Marshmallows are usually made using high glucose corn syrup. We've substituted corn syrup for organic brown rice syrup to add a bit of "healthiness" to this decadent coffee drink. We love sweets, but also love making them in the best way possible.
The Cajeta Latte will be available at all locations beginning Saturday, May 4, until we sell out. Preparing the ingredients for this drink is very time consuming, so it will only be around for a few days. We hope you get the chance to enjoy the drink while we have it available. Let us know if you enjoyed this version of a latte!
